Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato Fries on a baking dish

Crispy sweet potato fries with sriracha lime mayo. Yes, please.

The one question I get asked a ton is, “How do you get your family to eat so healthy?” Easy. I make healthy food that tastes good.

Eating clean doesn’t mean that you have to deprive yourself of the good things in life. Like fries. Because, IMHO, fries are awesome and amazing and I could eat them everyday.

My people know that fries are totally my jam. I’ll take some crispy fries over a cupcake any day. Who’s with me on this one?

Today’s recipe is how I do fries at home. I combine two of my food favs into one delicious recipe: sweet potato fries.

Sweet potato fries are super easy to make. They are the perfect side dish or snack. And they taste good with just about anything.

Sweet Potato Fries with Sriracha Mayo on parchment paper

Here’s the deets:

sweet potatoes… one of the healthiest and yummiest foods on Earth. Loaded with all the important things like fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

spices… I use a combo of garlic powder, chili powder, and cinnamon. Topped with a bit of sea salt. SO GOOD!

baked… I bake these in the oven in avocado oil because avocado oil is good for high heat cooking. You can also use ghee if that’s what you have.

crispy… life is too short for soggy fries. See below for my simple tips for crispy fries.

the mayo… my current fav dip for sweet potato fries is Sriracha lime mayo. Make it. Trust me.

Tips for crispy fries:

  • high heat (425’F)
  • cut fries evenly so they cook evenly – 1/4 to 1/2 inch matchsticks
  • tapioca starch (totally optional but helps with the crisp factor)
  • parchment paper (keeps them from sticking and helps them crisp up nicely)
  • personal space (don’t crowd them on the baking sheet. Let them “breathe” so they don’t absorb the steam from each other and get soggy.)
  • hold the salt until AFTER baking.

I love the combo of garlic powder, chili powder, and cinnamon, but these fries are super versatile. Other flavor combos you may enjoy:

  • pumpkin pie spice
  • Primal Palate Breakfast Seasoning
  • curry powder
  • Plain old salt and pepper

Description

Oven baked crispy sweet potato fries with sriracha lime mayo.  So easy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds) – washed and peeled
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil (THIS is my fav brand)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (like this)
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (like this)
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp tapioca starch (like this)
  • salt – to taste

FOR SRIRACHA LIME MAYO

  • 1/3 cup good quality mayonnaise (THIS is my fav clean brand)
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha sauce (like this) (or your fav hot sauce)
  • 2 tsp fresh lime juice
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425’F.  Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Slice sweet potatoes into 1/4 to 1/2 inch evenly-sized matchsticks and place into a large bowl. Drizzle with avocado oil and toss to coat.  Sprinkle on garlic powder, chili powder, and cinnamon.  Toss to coat again.
  3. Divide sweet potatoes evenly between the two baking trays. Sprinkle the tapioca evenly over them all and toss until evenly coated and tapioca has soaked into the oil. Make sure fries are spaced out and not touching.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes then flip and bake for another 7-10 minutes, until nice and crispy.  Sprinkle with salt.  Enjoy!
  5. Prepare Sriracha Mayo while sweet potato fries bake.  Simply whisk together all mayo ingredients.  Set aside until ready to use.

Notes

Sweet potato fries are best served right out of the oven.

👉 do you have digestive issues? 👉 because 👉 do you have digestive issues?

👉 because of high stress lifestyles, many of us have an overworked, under-functioning digestive system, imbalanced intestinal flora and a continuous flow of intestinal toxins seeping into the bloodstream 😩 • constipation, diarrhea 💩, gas 💨, heartburn 🔥 + IBS are common complaints of many adults in the US

👉 impaired digestion leads to intestinal toxemia • slow digestion + constipation allow bacteria in the gut to act upon undigested food, producing toxic chemicals and gases that damage the mucous lining, resulting in increased intestinal permeability known as leaky gut • leaky gut can lead to inflammation , food sensitivities, autoimmune reactions, anxiety, depression, acne, + so much more

👉 the colon is one of our major drainage pathways for eliminating toxins + wastes out of the body • it’s no surprise that there has been a huge up-tick in colon cancer as environmental toxins + constipation have increased

👉 what if our medical system had a better understanding of drainage pathways + the importance of digestive health? • what if our primary doctors talked to us about parasites, pathogens, enemas, saunas, hydration, mindful eating, low stomach acid, + real nutrition? • what if our food system wasn’t corporate sponsored and geared towards profits instead of health?

👉 i personally had to see 5 different integrative + functional medicine practitioners in order to find real healing • none of it was covered by my insurance • not everyone can afford this • how do millions of people in the country suffer from digestive issues (which lead to a whole host of chronic health issues) but we have no real answer, just band-aids? • how much 💰 does the pharmaceutical industry make from these digestive issues • just starting the conversation • bc i see so many people suffering ❤️

👉P.S. my intention is not to harp on conventional medicine • i’ve been an RN for almost 17 years working bedside with women + their families • i’m speaking from my personal experience of seeing my patient population get sicker + sicker over the years • we are not doing it right • we are missing the mark 🎯
🎂🎂 i’m always looking for a reason to cele 🎂🎂 i’m always looking for a reason to celebrate • finding those small pockets of joy ✨✨ • so when someone i LOVE has a birthday, this is the cake i like to make ❤️ • BROWNIE BOTTOM ICE CREAM CAKE • two layers of your favorite ice cream nested on top of the most delicious gluten + grain free (+ vegan) brownie layer topped with fresh whipped cream, berries, + shaved chocolate • so easy to make and so fun to eat • to make dairy, use dairy free ice cream + coconut whipped cream
